Exchange Rate Lowest Since November 2016

GBP/EUR - Sterling at lowest levels since November 2016

Sterling has dropped through a key level of support versus the euro (1.1300IB) and is currently trading at its lowest level since November 2016. The fall came after Bank of England (BoE) Deputy Governor Ben Broadbent suggested that raising rates was ‘tricky’. Broadbent said: ‘In my opinion it is a bit tricky at the moment to make a decision and raise rates. I am not ready to do it yet.’

Volatility is expected to remain high this morning as the market awaits the results of UK claimant count, wage growth, and unemployment numbers at 9:30am
