Gite accommodation for your viewing trip
Many people who travel to France like to stay in a short term rental property, a holiday cottage known in France as a "Gite".
From time to time our clients ask us to recommend a guest gite to rent locally to where they are viewing properties with us, we have many to recommend so all you need to do is ask and we will suggest some. We can also point our clients in the direction of local Hotels, Chambre d'Hotes and B&B businesses.
The freedom of a self-catering cottage is always a good option and having a nice 'base' to get back to after a busy days viewing is helpful to clear your mind and make comparisons of the houses you have viewed.
We have a few holiday cottages / guest gites that come highly recommended by previous clients who have stayed there and also a couple of properties we have sold to clients in the past who have subsequently set up their property as a holiday rental or B&B business.
Take a look at the Holiday Gite tabs by hovering over the "Gite Accommodation" tab dropped down from the "Club Cle France" tab on this website.
Or click on the images below to see more about each particular holiday cottage.

Ile de France
This region include the capital city of France along with other departments fanning out from the Seine river and offers the best of what France has to give in terms of property, lifestyle and culture.
Paris is a beautiful city. It has everything a city lover could possibly desire and perhaps a bit more! Chic little boutiques in the back streets and huge department stores on the vast avenues and boulevards, wonderful art galleries and intimate performance spaces, superb restaurants, huge street antique and flea markets. There are elegant squares and pretty parks and the banks of the river Seine must be the most romantic waterfront anywhere in the world.
Lots of people will agree that Paris is on of Europe's most exciting cities, in my opinion it is the best, a place that has everything for the visitor. Paris on a day trip, Paris in the Spring, Paris for a week or for a lot longer, it is a city that has it all! Museums, theatres, shops, fantastic historic monuments, a beautiful riverside and much more.
The Ile de France region consists of 8 departments:
Paris (75), Yvelines (78), Seine-et-Marne (77), Val-d-Oise (95), Essonne (91), Hauts-de-Seine (92), Seine-Saint-Denis (93) and Val-de-Marne (94).
Weather
Transport
Pretty self explanatory as it has all the options you could wish for being one of the most beautiful and busiest capital cities in the world.
Train or bus from the airport into Paris: the RER train service is fast, and is the cheapest option.
If you arrive by air in Paris for a day trip, get the 1 day "Paris visite" visitor pass for zones 1-5, which includes the airports, this will give you unlimited hop-on / hop-off public transport during your day.
Always keep your ticket until your journey is finished, even if it is just a single journey ticket because you will need to put your ticket through the machine at both ends to get onto and off the platforms.
Food
Paris is certainly an ideal place for those living in central London to have a second home, it is an easy weekend trip by Eurostar and having done this recently myself my tip would be to buy your ticket well in advance as they can be very cheap. For those used to London, Paris seems a lot smaller and much more manageable. Even though the Metro map is not as well designed as the London Underground map, the principal is the same and it is very fast, efficient, clean and believe it or not it is easy to understand and to navigate once you get to grips with it.
Leisure
I mean... where do we begin? the Moulin Rouge? evenings at the opera, film club, museums, art galleries, guided tours, weekend excursions, boat rides, sports activities, gastronomic discoveries; the list is simply endless. All you have to do is enjoy a full-on French experience.
Property
It may come as no surprise that the French property market in Paris and the surrounding is one the most dynamic and expensive in France. Central Paris prices are as you would expect and moving out from the centre the prices become more reasonable but being so close to such a vibrant capital city has to come at a premium.

1) How to apply for a French National number (Securite Sociale number):
If you live permanently in France, it would be advisable to apply for a French National number; the process to do so may be different, depending on whether you are retired, unemployed, self-employed or working.
2) Why would it be advisable to take out a Top Up insurance?
As the obligatory (CPAM) health insurance cover is not full cover, it is advisable to take out "Top-Up" insurance to cover what would otherwise be the patient's contribution. Additional cover through our medical Top-Up insurance operates immediately.
We can propose several forms of Top-Up insurance:
Full Cover, Standard cover for your main medical expenses, Cover limited to the most important and expensive medical risks.

Property for sale in Languedoc Roussillon - click here
Languedoc Roussillon
The area always used to be known as simply "Languedoc" and covered a large part of southern France, the modern Languedoc-Roussillon is a much smaller area, being the area covered by the Eastern Pyrenees department. It was, in the past, the northern part of Catalonia which extended from Spain, and some people here still speak Catalan as well as French.
The regional capital is the city of Montpellier, a thriving modern city in the Hérault department, with a historic and interesting centre; other major cities in the region are Nimes, Narbonne, Sete and Perpignan.
The coast of Languedoc is characterised by long sandy beaches and a modern tourist infrastructure such as the twentieth-century resorts of Cap d'Agde, Palavas, or Narbonne Plage.
The Languedoc-Roussillon region consists of 5 departments:
Herault (34), Aude (11), Gard (30), Lozere (48) and Pyrenees-Orientales (66).
Weather
Transport
We are right at the bottom of France here so a drive from the Uk is a long one, but one I have done many times, possibly more relaxing is the TGV from Paris Gare-de-Lyon, or from Lille and many other cities. Motorway from Paris, Lille, Strasbourg, Nancy, Lyon, Geneva will also get you here. There are airports at Nimes, Montpellier, Carcassonne and Perpignan, with low-cost flights from the UK, Belgium and Holland, elsewhere in the world of course fly into the main airports mentioned already.
Food
Southern gastronomy relies on dishes that are meant to be shared like the well-known Cassoulet or Brandade-de-Morue. The Southwest of France also boasts refined food like the Anchoiade or the Bourride which are two fish dishes that use the aromatic herbs of the wild garrigue (wild scrubland). The herbs of thyme, rosemary, bay and sorrel, and others, play an important part in Languedoc-Roussillon's food history and also influence the Catalan and Provence cuisine and culture either side of this stunning region.
Leisure
There is so much to do and it depends whether you are near the mediterranean coastline, in the countryside or in one of the many hill top villages, or indeed up in the mountains. Hiking and walking feature a lot as does cycling and mountain biking, plus lots of sea and river sports feature heavily as well as horse riding being very popular.
Property
Styles of property for sale in the area can vary but most popular styles are hill-top cottages, edge of village villas, countryside Mas style farmhouses and fantastic Maison de Maitre properties. The traditional clay / terracotta style roof construction is almost flat and is very attractive and suitable for many roof terraces which are popular in the hill top villages.
